The Santa Monica Pacific Palisades Lions Club is extending its support to those affected by the recent wildfires in Los Angeles County, particularly in the Pacific Palisades area. The club has canceled its Community Recognition Luncheon and instead focused on raising funds for emergency efforts.
A special fund was established through the California Lions Foundation (CLF) to help victims of the Palisades Fire. Donations are tax-deductible and will support emergency efforts. The Lions Club is working closely with the Pacific Palisades Community Council (PPCC) to determine the most immediate needs for the affected area.
Due to the extreme devastation, a detailed needs assessment is ongoing. However, the club aims to have funds readily available when action can be taken. Donors will be updated on the process.
To donate, send a check payable to the California Lions Foundation with the designation “SM-PP Lions Club – Palisades Fire Relief” to:
California Lions Foundation
Attn: David Hedebrand, Treasurer
20231 Valley Boulevard (Suite E)
Tehachapi, CA 93561
Online donations can be made through the CLF website and specify support for the Palisades Fire relief. Alternatively, donors can send an email to [email protected] or call (650) 892-2202.
The SMPP Lions Club will also host its Annual Student Speaker Contest on February 5th at the Elks Lodge, featuring speeches on “Artificial Intelligence; friend or foe?” A dinner will follow the event.
