Google Revamps Quick Share for Seamless File Transfers Across Devices

Google has rolled out a new update for Android 15, focusing on its Quick Share feature to make it a more prominent part of the user experience. The latest setup wizard aims to introduce users to seamless file transfers among devices. With this new focus, Google hopes to increase usage and familiarity with Quick Share, rivaling Apple’s AirDrop.

The new update allows users to configure visibility settings as they set up their new device, controlling who can send files to their device and customizing other preferences. Samsung Galaxy devices will display a modified version of the setup page for those already using custom implementations.

Google aims to make Quick Share an Android staple, requiring no downloads or sign-ups, and working with Chromebooks, Windows PCs, and other Android devices. The new setup wizard could make Quick Share as ubiquitous as AirDrop, providing users with a lesson in its use, especially for those new to Android or out of the tech loop.

By revamping Quick Share, Google seeks to make file transfers faster and more convenient, potentially drawing users away from third-party tools and towards using native features. With this update, Google takes another step in making its file sharing experience the go-to method for Android users.
