A recent study published in JAMA Pediatrics has shown that long-COVID levels among US kids have remained stable at low levels over the past two years, with 80% of affected children experiencing activity limitations. The study analyzed data from the 2023 National Health Interview Survey and found no significant differences in long-COVID rates between 2022 and 2023. However, researchers did discover that lower-income families were more likely to experience long COVID symptoms, and Hispanic and non-Hispanic White children had a higher prevalence of the condition than other racial groups. The study’s findings highlight the need for further examination of the severity of activity limitations and functional outcomes among affected children.
