Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22635.4870 Released to Beta Channel

Microsoft has released Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22635.4870 (KB5050087) to the Beta Channel, bringing new features and improvements for Insiders who have opted-in to receive updates as they are available.

The build includes support for lock screen widgets in the European Economic Area (EEA), allowing users to add, remove, and rearrange widgets such as Weather, Watchlist, Sports, Traffic, and more. Additionally, a new group policy called “Disable Widgets On Lock Screen” has been added, enabling IT administrators to disable lock screen widgets without disabling widgets elsewhere on PCs they manage.

File Explorer will also see improvements, including the addition of people icons under the “Activity” column on File Explorer Home for Windows Insiders signed in with work or school accounts. Furthermore, fixes have been applied to various issues affecting Start menu and File Explorer reliability.

The update includes fixes for several known issues, such as a crash caused by dropping files into File Explorer and a high-priority background process crashing issue. However, some features may not be fully localized, and users are encouraged to report any localization issues via Feedback Hub.

Insiders in the Beta Channel will receive updates based on Windows 11, version 23H2 via an enablement package (Build 22635.xxxx), and new features will gradually roll out to everyone with the toggle turned on. The build is available for download through Settings > Windows Update*.
