Cubs Strengthen Bullpen with Ryan Brasier Acquisition

The Chicago Cubs have strengthened their bullpen depth by acquiring right-hander Ryan Brasier in a trade with the Los Angeles Dodgers. This move comes after the team signed two-time All-Star closer Ryan Pressly, who is expected to be their top choice for the ninth-inning role.

Brasier, a 37-year-old World Series champion, brings a proven track record to the Cubs’ relief corps. He posted a 3.54 ERA in 28 innings last season and has a career ERA of 1.89 across 66 2/3 innings with the Dodgers. The team is willing to accept Brasier’s mid-three ERA for his $4.5 million salary, making him an attractive addition.

With Pressly and newcomer Porter Hodge on board, Brasier can form a strong right-handed tandem in the bullpen. While the full return from the Dodgers has not been disclosed, this trade appears wise, considering the Cubs’ desire to bolster their relief pitching.
