Pat Riley Profit from Potential Chiefs ‘Three-peat’

NBA Coach Pat Riley Could Benefit from Kansas City Chiefs’ Three-Peat Bid

Pat Riley, a famed NBA coach, might be the biggest Kansas City Chiefs fan this Super Bowl Sunday. Nearly four decades ago, Riley filed a trademark for the term “three-peat,” but never capitalized on it until now.

The Kansas City Chiefs are looking to make history by becoming the first NFL team to win three straight Super Bowls, and they’ve struck a deal with Pat Riley to sell “three-peat” merchandise. As part of the agreement, Riley will receive a percentage of the proceeds from the sales.

Riley has promised to donate any earnings to his family foundation. Traditionally, licensees pay a 10-15% royalty on item prices when using a trademark.

The Chiefs’ chances of winning three consecutive Super Bowls are high, with the team having appeared in five out of six seasons over the last few years. If they succeed, it will be their second championship, following their first win in 2018.
