Doechii Makes History as First Amazon Delivery Driver to Win Grammy

Doechii made history at the 67th annual Grammy Awards when she became the third woman to win Best Rap Album. The rapper, who is just 26 years old, won the award for her mixtape “Alligator Bites Don’t Heal”. This marks a historic moment not only for Doechii but also for Spencer Golanka, a 27-year-old producer who co-produced two tracks on the album and became an unlikely Grammy winner.

Golanka was driving his Amazon delivery van when he heard the news about Doechii’s win. He had been working with her team since 2021 and had sent beats to her that ended up being used for the album. When asked if he felt surreal, Golanka said, “I’d been sending beats to her a bunch, and some of the ideas ended up being used for the album. It was crazy.”

Although Golanka won’t receive a Grammy trophy as lead producer, his contribution to the album makes him eligible for a Grammy certificate. Born in Fremont and raised in Orange County, Golanka developed an interest in music while writing sports articles at UC Berkeley.

Golanka’s win is not only a testament to his hard work but also a rare example of someone winning a Grammy from the comfort of their delivery van. Doechii and Golanka may have had different Sunday nights, but they both shared a moment of joy when hearing the news – they called their families to share the excitement.
