A team of astronomers has confirmed the existence of exoplanet Gaia-4b, one of the most massive planets known to orbit a low-mass star. The discovery was made possible by data from the European Space Agency’s Gaia spacecraft using an astrometric technique. A new animation visualizing Gaia-4b’s orbital motions is now available.
The animation uses data from the NEID spectrograph mounted on the WIYN 3.5-meter Telescope at the US National Science Foundation’s Kitt Peak National Observatory. The star and planet are not to scale in the visualization.
