The National Football League (NFL) has announced that the Los Angeles Rams will host a game in Melbourne, Australia during the 2026 season. The game, set to be played at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), marks the first-ever NFL game in Australia and is part of the league’s commitment to expand its international presence.
The announcement comes as the NFL has scheduled up to eight international regular-season games per season starting from 2025. This new initiative aims to increase the league’s global reach, with Australia being one of six key international home marketing areas for the Rams.
The Rams’ opponent and game date will be revealed later. The team’s owner, E. Stanley Kroenke, expressed excitement about bringing the NFL to Australia, stating that it represents a significant step in expanding the league’s global footprint.
Victoria’s Premier Jacinta Allan welcomed the news, calling it a “win for jobs, businesses, and fans.” The Rams are scheduled to play nine home games in 2026, including matches against top teams like the Seattle Seahawks and Kansas City Chiefs.
