French filmmaker Jacques Audiard has spoken out about the controversy surrounding Karla Sofía Gascón’s past tweets. The director, who stars alongside Gascón in a Netflix film, expressed his feelings on her statements during an interview with Deadline. “It’s very hard for me to think back to the work I did with Karla Sofía,” Audiard said. He likened their relationship to one where “trust was everything” and suddenly having to read hateful things about her made that trust impossible to maintain. The controversy led Netflix to withdraw Gascón from attending the Critics Choice Awards and Producers Guild Awards in the US.
