A pro-Trump Arab American group is rebranding itself after President Donald Trump’s comments on Gaza, dubbed the “Riviera of the Middle East.” The group, formerly known as Arab Americans for Trump, has changed its name to Arab Americans for Peace. Chairman Bishara Bahbah stated that the name change came after Trump proposed taking ownership of Gaza and transferring Palestinians from Historic Palestine.
The group, which played a key role in Trump’s voter outreach efforts in 2024, frequently facilitated meetings between Arab American community leaders and Trump’s allies. However, the group now opposes Trump’s comments on Gaza, saying they take issue with his suggestion to take over Gaza and remove its Palestinian inhabitants.
Bahbah explained that the name change allows the group to align itself with their core objective of pushing for peace in the Middle East. The group had been considering a name change for some time and made the decision after Trump’s Tuesday press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
