NFL defensive end Myles Garrett has expressed his desire to be traded from the Cleveland Browns, citing a lack of alignment on the team’s future direction. In an interview on the “Rich Eisen Show,” Garrett stated that he had consulted with Lakers star LeBron James and was looking at the team’s trajectory.
Garrett, the reigning Defensive Player of the Year, has been with the Browns since 2017 and holds a five-year, $125 million contract. However, he has two years remaining on the deal but no guaranteed salary after next season.
The Browns’ poor performance this season, including a 3-14 record, may have contributed to Garrett’s decision. The team is expected to hold the second pick in the 2025 NFL draft and Garrett reiterated his desire to join a contender.
Despite the Browns’ denial of trading him, Garrett acknowledged that he had no say in where he goes. His contract does not include a no-trade clause. The six-time Pro Bowler emphasized that winning championships is what matters to him, not individual accolades or records.
