Three NASA astronauts who recently completed a 235-day mission to the International Space Station refused to comment on a medical issue that required one astronaut to spend a night in a hospital after landing. The crew, including pilots Mike Barratt and Matt Dominick, discussed their flight with reporters but maintained medical privacy.
The unidentified astronaut, who re-joined their crewmates upon return to Earth, is reportedly “in good health” and will resume post-flight reconditioning. NASA provided limited information about the incident, citing medical privacy concerns.
Barratt and Dominick shared highlights of their stay in space, including a water leak during preparations for a June spacewalk that triggered a blizzard in the airlock. They also discussed a suit “discomfort” issue that forced them to call off a planned spacewalk on June 13.
The crew’s experience offers a glimpse into the challenges of space travel and the importance of contingency procedures. Despite some hardware issues, NASA plans to resume spacewalks in January with upgraded suits and a clean interface for repeated use.
