Chicago Bears Matriarch Virginia Halas McCaskey Dies at 102

The longtime owner of the Chicago Bears, Virginia McCaskey, has passed away at 102. A member of the football family since her childhood, she witnessed eight league titles and a Super Bowl championship during her nearly five-decade tenure as principal owner. Born in 1923, Mrs. McCaskey took over as owner after her father’s death in 1983 and expanded the team into a dynasty with four of her sons working for the organization. A humble leader who downplays her role, she once said “Pride is the word I try to avoid because I’m in this position due to my inheritance.”
