Toymaker Challenges Paramount’s ‘Slime’ Trademark in Merger Case

A US-based toy maker, Mack Toys Inc., has submitted a complaint to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) over Paramount Global’s planned merger with Skydance Media. The issue is whether Paramount can control the use of the word “slime” after acquiring Skydance, which owns Nickelodeon and its popular green slime gag. According to Paramount’s 157-page filing, the company enforces its trademark too strictly, hindering fair competition for smaller businesses like Mack Toys Inc., who also produce toy slime products.
