Dallas Mavericks big man Anthony Davis left his debut game with the team due to a lower-body injury. The 31-year-old, who was acquired in the trade that sent Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers, suffered tightness in his groin and quadriceps area.
Davis played well in the first half, scoring 24 points, grabbing 13 rebounds, and dishing out five assists. However, he re-injured himself after Alperen Sengun drove past him for a layup. With Davis on the bench, Dallas went on to win the game 116-105.
Coach Jason Kidd downplayed the injury, saying it’s “nothing serious.” However, fans are still wary of Davis’ extensive injury history. The Mavs will face Golden State on Monday night in their second home game of a four-game stretch.
Davis is expected to take it easy today and assess his condition before making a decision on playing time for the next game.
