The University of Louisville’s 88-78 victory over Miami on Saturday showcased the Cardinals’ resilience and depth. Despite losing pivotal player James Scott to injury, UofL still managed a convincing win against an ACC bottom-feeding opponent.
Terrence Edwards led the charge, pouring in 27 points, including 3/4 from distance and 4/4 at the free throw line. Edwards also added five rebounds and 10 assists, while exhausting midway through the game.
Edwards’ performance was crucial in the fourth quarter, when UofL pulled away from a one-point deficit with a 9-0 run. The Cardinals’ defense, which held Miami to just 44 points in the paint, was relentless throughout the contest.
Reyne Smith added 26 points, while J’Vonne Hadley contributed 12 points, seven rebounds, and two assists. Khani Rooths and Noah Waterman also made significant contributions off the bench.
The win improves UofL’s record to 18-6 and 11-2 in conference play. The Cardinals’ next test will be against a tougher opponent, but for now, they can bask in the glory of their hard-fought victory.
