US President Donald Trump said on February 9 that talks with Russia to end the war in Ukraine are making progress, but he declined to disclose details about his communication with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The US has also been in contact with Ukraine.
Trump confirmed speaking with Putin, saying “I’ve had it” and expecting more conversations. He noted the US is working with both Russia and Ukraine. Trump mentioned meeting Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Washington in the coming days and expressed interest in a meeting with Putin soon.
The Trump administration aims to end the war quickly, within 100 days. The US Defense Secretary previously reiterated this goal. Trump also hinted at discussing rare earth minerals with Ukraine, something Kyiv has been open to.
