Pixel 9a Design Revealed, Still No Major Bezel Change

Google’s upcoming budget-friendly smartphone, the Pixel 9a, is expected to retain its chunky bezels around the screen despite leaks and rumors suggesting a redesign. A recent leak revealed by 9to5Google shows that the phone will still have an 81.6% screen-to-body ratio, similar to its predecessor, the Pixel 8a.

In comparison, flagship devices like the iPhone 16 Pro Max (91.4%) and Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra (92.5%) boast larger screen-to-body ratios. The Pixel 9a is expected to maintain a slightly larger size, with a 6.3-inch display compared to the Pixel 8a’s 6.1 inches.

The design change on the front-facing camera and antenna rails remains unchanged, but a recent leak suggests that the phone may ditch the iconic camera bar seen in previous Google phones, instead housing cameras within an oval-shaped module on the left-hand side of the device.

Internally, the Pixel 9a is expected to feature the same Tensor G4 chipset as its predecessor, paired with 8GB RAM. The battery capacity is also set to increase to a 5,100mAh unit. Additionally, the phone will reportedly retain the same $499 starting price and come with some freebies, including three months of YouTube Premium, Google One, and six months of Fitbit Premium.

Google has confirmed that pre-orders for the Pixel 9a are expected to begin next month on March 19, although these predictions should be taken with a pinch of salt until an official announcement is made.
