The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued a recall of over 2 million baked goods due to potential listeria contamination. The affected products were manufactured by FGF Brands, a pastry wholesaler, and include items such as doughnuts, cinnamon sticks, French crullers, and fritters.
These items were produced before December 13, 2024, and sold in the US and Canada. A Class II classification has been assigned to the recall, indicating that use of or exposure to the affected product may cause temporary adverse health consequences.
Consumers can reach FGF Brands via telephone at 905-761-3333 or email at [email protected] for more information. A full list of recalled products is available on the FDA’s website.
Listeria poisoning symptoms include fever, muscle aches, headache, stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance, convulsions, diarrhea, and other gastrointestinal symptoms. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) consider listeriosis a serious condition that can be life-threatening to certain groups, including pregnant women, older adults, and people with weakened immune systems.
The FDA has also issued guidance on seeking medical care if individuals in higher-risk categories experience flu-like symptoms within two months after consuming contaminated food.
