Apple is reportedly set to launch its new iPhone SE and PowerBeats Pro headphones as early as February 11. The announcement is likely to be low-key, given that the company has not sent out invitations for either an in-person or virtual event.
A new iPhone SE would mark the fourth generation of Apple’s budget-friendly handset, replacing the third-generation device discontinued in the EU due to its Lightning port not adhering to Common Charger Directive legislation. The latest iPhone SE is expected to feature a USB-C port and resemble the iPhone 14 line. It may also be the first device with an Apple-built modem, a move aimed at reducing its dependence on third-party chip makers.
The new SE is anticipated to gain significant traction outside the US, particularly in China and India, where smartphone markets are currently dominated by domestic manufacturers such as Huawei. The growth of these manufacturers, combined with Apple’s limited availability of its AI-powered technology, has contributed to a decline in iPhone sales in China over recent quarters.
In tandem with the iPhone SE, Apple is expected to unveil the PowerBeats Pro 2 headphones, which will be nearly six years after their initial release. These new earbuds are anticipated to feature built-in heart rate tracking, marking an expansion of Apple’s wearable health initiative beyond its Apple Watch.
Other rumored product launches include M4 refreshes for the MacBook Air and iPad Air, along with a long-awaited addition to Apple’s smart home line that may include a display and mark the company’s entry into consumer robotics.
