Saudi Arabia Rejects Israeli Plan for Palestinian State

Saudi Arabia has condemned Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s suggestion that the kingdom’s land could host a Palestinian state. In a statement, the Saudi Foreign Ministry said the Palestinian people have a right to their land and cannot be “expelled” from it. The ministry reiterated this stance after Netanyahu proposed using Saudi Arabia as a potential location for a Palestinian state during an interview.

Netanyahu suggested that Saudis could create a Palestinian state in Saudi Arabia, which drew criticism from Arab states and international organizations. GCC Secretary-General Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi described the statement as “dangerous and irresponsible,” highlighting Israel’s disregard for international laws and treaties.

The US had previously proposed a plan to “take over” Gaza and resettlement of Palestinians elsewhere, which was widely condemned by Arab leaders. Saudi Arabia has repeatedly denied that it would require the formation of a Palestinian state before normalizing ties with Israel.

Israel’s war on Gaza has resulted in at least 61,700 Palestinian deaths, including about 18,000 children, as well as significant infrastructure damage and an estimated 14,000 missing persons presumed dead.
