T-Mobile is set to launch a satellite-based connectivity service in July, offering customers seamless coverage across the US for just $15 per month. Powered by SpaceX’s Starlink, the service aims to eliminate mobile dead zones and extend connectivity to remote areas.
The company will begin a wide-scale beta trial of the service, providing it free to customers until its launch. Afterward, it will be included in T-Mobile’s premium Go5G Next plan at no extra cost. Customers who sign up for the trial will receive a 33% discount on the service when it’s commercially launched.
T-Mobile is offering the Starlink service directly to wireless users without requiring them to switch carriers. The beta launch will initially provide text service via satellite, with voice and data features planned for later addition.
The company has partnered with Apple and Google to ensure a seamless experience on these devices. T-Mobile president Mike Katz emphasized that this network works across nearly all smartphones from the last four years, making it an exclusive offering in the US.
