Ridley Scott Teases New Alien Sequel Following Romulus

Ridley Scott has sparked excitement among fans with a tease for his upcoming Alien sequel, which will follow the story of Alien: Romulus. In an interview with THR, Scott expressed regret over not taking ownership of the IP after the success of Alien and acknowledged that the sequels botched the canon plot.

Scott stated that Prometheus, which he resurrected the Alien franchise, divided the fan base but has since gained a cult following. He also said that Alien: Covenant was ambitious and intellectual, but maybe too much for its audience, resulting in poor box office numbers. However, Scott believes that Covenant left the door open for a sequel.

Scott revealed that he may have missed an opportunity by choosing to direct Alien: Covenant instead of Blade Runner 2. He acknowledged his mistakes and expressed gratitude to fans for their continued support.

In terms of what’s next, Scott is now developing his own Alien follow-up. He has teased what he had in mind by expanding on the plot of Alien: Covenant. The sequel will pick up where Covenant left off, with David, Michael Fassbender’s killer android, and alien eggs at play.

Fede Álvarez, director of Alien: Romulus, has shared his ideas on how the story would unravel, including exploring what happens when or if the characters reach Yvaga. Scott also expressed admiration for James Cameron’s Aliens, acknowledging that it will never be beaten by the original 1979 film, which he considers the best in the series.

The Alien sequel is still under wraps, but fans can expect more news and updates soon.
