Kendrick Lamar’s ‘Not Like Us’ Streams Skyrocket After Super Bowl Performance

Kendrick Lamar’s Spotify streams for his 2024 chart-topping diss track “Not Like Us” surged 430% within three hours of his Super Bowl halftime show performance. The song, aimed at Canadian rapper Drake, also saw major spikes in streams for its other songs performed during the event.

Lamar’s set included a medley of his hits, with “Humble,” “Man at the Garden,” and “All the Stars” from the Black Panther soundtrack experiencing significant jumps in streaming numbers. The overall increase in Lamar’s music was 175%. SZA, featured on “All the Stars,” saw an 80% spike in US streams.

The performance was highly anticipated, given the controversy surrounding “Not Like Us,” which includes lyrics about Drake and allegations of his conduct with younger women. However, Universal Music Group denied accusations of defamation from Drake’s lawsuit, stating that the claims were untrue.

Critics praised Lamar’s set as a significant moment in Super Bowl history, with Mark Beaumont writing that it was “undoubtedly one of the most important half-time shows” and “the most significant mass-televised rap performance of all time.”
