Elon Musk Unveils ‘Marslink’ Service for High-Speed Wi-Fi Connection to Mars

Elon Musk has unveiled a new “Marslink” service that will connect planets to high-speed Wi-Fi from Earth. The concept was presented at a Mars Exploration Program Analysis Group meeting, which is dedicated to supporting the space station’s mission on the Red Planet.

According to Musk’s proposal, multiple satellites would orbit the planet, using laser communication from the existing Starlink service to share data with Mars. This would enable the planet to receive high-speed Wi-Fi connectivity. The new service aims to beam over 4Mbps of data between neighboring planets.

This is not the first time Musk has explored Mars; he previously announced that SpaceX will land its Starship rocket on Mars in 2026. Sources suggest that a change in administration could accelerate human missions to Mars, as NASA’s Artemis program shifts focus towards Mars under a new Trump-led administration.

However, it’s unclear how plans may evolve with the new administration taking shape over the next few weeks. A NASA spokeswoman stated that speculating about changes is not appropriate at this time.
