Microsoft is introducing a universal Share button in its upcoming update to Windows 11, making it easier for users to transport content between contacts. The new feature is currently available in the Windows Insider Preview Build, which can be accessed by Insiders in the Dev and Beta channels.
The Share button will appear throughout the operating system, including in the taskbar and Start menu, allowing users to send files, links, or text directly from their desktops. Users can also right-click on recently accessed files to share them quickly.
The feature is currently a hidden function, but users like @Phantomofearth have discovered how to enable it using third-party apps like ViveTool. However, it’s unclear whether this feature will be rolled out as a default update or remain a preview only.
This new Share button is just one of several features being tested in the Windows Insider Preview Build program. Other notable features include an AI-powered Rewrite tool for the Notepad app, which allows users to generate alternative text with specific tones or formats.
