The Golden State Warriors have acquired forward Jimmy Butler from the Miami Heat in a multi-team trade, exchanging forwards Kyle Anderson and Andrew Wiggins to the Heat, guard Dennis Schröder to the Utah Jazz, and guard Lindy Waters III to the Detroit Pistons. To complete the deal, Golden State will send its 2025 first-round pick (top 10 protected) to Miami.
Butler, a six-time All-Star and five-time All-NBA selection, has signed a two-year extension with the Heat prior to the trade. The Warriors General Manager Mike Dunleavy expressed excitement about adding Butler’s skills, calling him an “elite player” whose two-way capabilities fit perfectly with their team.
This marks Butler’s third stint in the league, having previously played for the Chicago Bulls, Philadelphia 76ers, Minnesota Timberwolves, and Bulls. Throughout his career, he has averaged 18.3 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 4.3 assists per game. The Warriors will be bolstered by Butler’s addition, with the 35-year-old forward averaging 17.0 points on 54.0% shooting this season.
The trade also sees the departure of several players from Golden State, including Anderson, Schröder, Waters III, and Wiggins. While these players have contributed to the team’s success, Dunleavy acknowledged their impact and expressed gratitude for their time with the franchise.
