Google Gemini Assistant Gets New UI and Features

Google has announced a new user interface (UI) makeover for its Gemini assistant, designed to improve functionality and aesthetics. The update shrinks the floating panel into a sleek bottom-aligned text box, hiding redundant keyboard buttons and relocating suggestions within pills on the left.

The change aims to enhance the overall user experience by reducing clutter and making it easier to interact with the assistant. The new design also features a subtle glow around the edges of the floating overlay, previously introduced in August.

Additionally, Google is revamping the Gemini extensions page on Android, introducing a category carousel that allows users to browse extensions based on categories like “Productivity” or “Media.” This feature is part of a broader effort to improve the assistant’s functionality and user interface.

The update is gradually rolling out across Android devices, with the latest version available for testing in one country. A standalone Gemini app for iOS may also be released soon, according to reports.
