Goldman Sachs Abandons Diversity Board Pledge

Goldman Sachs has dropped its pledge to increase board diversity after it was announced in 2019. The commitment aimed to boost representation of underrepresented groups on the company’s board by 2025, but the plan appears to have been abandoned.

The promise was made during a time when investors and regulators were pressing financial institutions to improve their governance structures and diversify their boards. Goldman Sachs had stated that it wanted to achieve a more inclusive and representative leadership, but now it seems this goal has been put on hold.

It is not clear why the pledge was dropped or what alternative plans Goldman Sachs may have in place. The company remains one of the largest and most influential financial institutions globally, with significant sway over markets and policy.
