Civilization 7 PC Crossplay Disabled to Expedite Patch Release

Civilization 7’s cross-platform play between PC and consoles has been disabled due to a new update that aims to expedite patch releases. The move is part of Firaxis’ efforts to address “some feedback” from advanced access players, who have raised issues with the game’s UI.

The latest update, Patch 1.0.1, addresses gameplay bug fixes, tweaks to AI opponents, and small improvements to the UI. Fans can expect to see changes such as a more consistent naval combat system, improved loyalty crisis management, and enhanced camera functionality.

However, PC players will not be able to cross-play with console players until Firaxis resumes its regular patching schedule. The developer has stated that this decision is temporary and will have no impact on console-to-console multiplayer or PC-to-PC multiplayer.

Firaxis has also expressed gratitude towards fans who have reported bugs and provided feedback, saying they are “reading and collecting all of your feedback” to improve the game further. Modders are also working on various community-requested features, such as the Simple UI Adjustments Mod, which offers a range of helpful floating tooltips.

The update’s impact is still being felt, with some critics calling out the game’s initial mixed user response on Steam. However, Firaxis remains committed to addressing player concerns and turning the game around, with promises of upcoming community-requested features.
