ESPN analyst Stephen A. Smith criticized tennis legend Serena Williams for her cameo in Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl LIX halftime performance, which included a diss track about her ex-boyfriend Drake. In an episode of the First Take podcast, Stephen argued that if he were married to Serena, she would be going back to her ex instead of trolling him.
Stephen A. pointed out that SZA, who also performed with Kendrick, had previously dated Drake and added that everyone thought Serena and Drake were a couple in the past. He suggested that Serena’s actions were driven by a desire for attention, saying “Everybody knows that she and Drake were together at one time, and it seemed like everyone wanted to get their lick.” However, Ryan Clark pushed back on Stephen’s take, arguing that if you’re with someone as successful as Serena Williams, you’d be a kept man anyway.
