Apple TV App Comes to Android Devices

Apple has announced that its Apple TV app, including Apple TV+ and MLS Season Pass, will be available on Android devices. The new app will support a range of Android-based devices, including phones, tablets, and foldables.

The expansion follows the company’s previous offer of an Apple TV app for Google TV users who needed to create an existing account before accessing the service. Now, users can create an Apple account on their device and pay for services like Apple TV+ using Google Play billing.

Pricing remains at $9.99 per month. The Android version will allow Apple’s streaming service to reach a wider user base, particularly in non-U.S. markets where Android devices are more popular.

The app offers features like offline downloads, saved watchlists, and the ability to continue watching from another device. Users will also be able to see when new episodes or TV seasons drop, but native notifications for updates and new arrivals are not yet available.

MLS Season Pass is available as an optional add-on ($12.99/mo or $79/season), offering personalized recommendations for favorite teams. The app uses Android’s Material Design principles and includes adaptive layouts that adjust to different screen sizes.

The rollout comes five years after Apple launched Apple TV+ worldwide, which has garnered a reputation for high-quality content. The service has won several awards, including an Academy Award for Best Picture and multiple Emmy nominations.
