Nikon has officially announced its latest addition to its NIKKOR Z lens lineup, the 28-135mm f/4 PZ power zoom lens. Designed with small-footprint productions and solo videographers in mind, this lens offers a lightweight solution for various roles, including documentary work, events, and solo shooters.
The NIKKOR Z 28-135mm f/4 PZ boasts a range of features to cater to different users’ needs. It enables smooth zooming throughout the 28-135mm focal length with 11 different zoom speeds that can be assigned to various controls. The lens is also well-balanced, minimizing shifts in the center of gravity during zooming.
When used with the Nikon Z8/Z9 cameras, the Hi-Res Zoom function allows for an angle of view equivalent to a 270mm focal length, ideal for 4K video recording. Additionally, the Synchro mode enables simultaneous optical and Hi-Res Zoom using a single control with video recording.
The lens features 18 lens elements in 12 groups and has 9 aperture blades, with a front filter diameter of 95mm. It weighs approximately 1210g/2.66 lbs with a tripod collar. Customizable L-Fn buttons are positioned on the side and top of the lens for convenient operation.
The NIKKOR Z 28-135mm f/4 PZ also includes features like pitch gears on the focus ring, allowing manual follow-focus or motor control. Remote control capabilities are available, enabling users to zoom from a computer, smartphone, or tablet using NX Tether, SnapBridge, or NX Field.
The lens is designed with video in mind, featuring Nikon’s best anti-reflection coating and a stepping motor for fast and accurate autofocusing. The optical formula has been optimized to minimize focus breathing.
The NIKKOR Z 28-135mm f/4 PZ will be available in April 2025 for $2,599.95 USD and as part of a bundle with the new RED KOMODO-X Z Mount camera.
