The Illinois Department of Agriculture has issued a 30-day suspension on the exhibition or sale of poultry at various events across the state, including swap meets, exhibitions, flea markets, and auction markets. The move is in response to the ongoing threat of bird flu, which has been detected in commercial and backyard flocks in Illinois. The goal of the suspension is to reduce and prevent the spread of the disease.
The 2025 Illinois State Fair will still take place as scheduled, from August 7th through the 17th in Springfield. Two notable performers have been added to this year’s lineup: nine-time Grammy winner Sheryl Crow on August 12th, and The Turnpike Troubadours on August 17th.
