Mazda’s design chief, Masashi Nakayama, expressed confidence that a hybrid electric coupe powered by its rotary engine will become a production model in the near future. However, the company has broken previous commitments, according to Road & Track.
The Mazda team took a different approach when designing this concept car compared to traditional show cars. Unlike empty designs meant solely for marketing, this model was created with real intent to be developed into a real vehicle.
It’s worth noting that last year, Mazda showcased its rotary engine hybrid electric coupe to the public. Nevertheless, the company failed to fulfill promises it made in the past regarding this project.
