In a surprising move, Apple has enabled users to transfer digital purchases from one account to another. This change allows customers to migrate their media content, such as movies, books, and music apps, to a new primary account. However, the transfer is one-way, meaning users can only send purchases from a secondary account to a primary account.
To initiate the process, users must ensure both accounts are signed in on the same device, have two-factor authentication enabled, and share the same country and region settings. Additionally, they should verify there are no remaining balances or rentals/pre-orders.
The transfer process involves going to the Media and Purchases tab, selecting “Migrate Purchases,” and following the on-screen instructions. Once complete, users will need to log out of their secondary account across all devices. This step is crucial as it renders the secondary account unusable for future purchases.
This feature is currently available in the United States but not globally, with restrictions in place for European Union, UK, and Indian users.
