Amazon MGM Studios is releasing director Luca Guadagnino’s thriller “After the Hunt” in limited theaters on October 10, with a nationwide release set for October 17. The film follows college professor Julia Roberts as she navigates a personal and professional crossroads when one of her students accuses a colleague, played by Andrew Garfield.
As the story unfolds, dark secrets from Roberts’ past threaten to surface, putting her reputation at risk. The film also stars Michael Stuhlbarg, Chloë Sevigny, Ayo Edebiri, and Lío Mehiel.
“After the Hunt” is Guadagnino’s latest thriller, following his previous works “Bones and All” and “Queer.” The director has a history of making bold statements with his films, which often premiere at major festivals like the Venice Film Festival.
In addition to releasing “After the Hunt,” Guadagnino has upcoming projects in development, including a remake of “Sgt. Rock” at DC and a reboot of “American Psycho” at Lionsgate. With “Challengers,” a tennis romance drama starring Zendaya, Guadagnino cemented his status as a prominent filmmaker with a strong opening weekend last April.
