Meta Tackles Leaks Amid Power Struggle and Layoffs

Meta is in the midst of a culture fight within its own ranks, with top executives clamping down on leaks from inside the company. In a recent Q&A session, CTO Andrew Bosworth warned that the repeated leaks are creating an incentive structure that’s “wrong” and leads to more leaks.

Bosworth expressed concern over Mark Zuckerberg’s comments about wanting to create a workplace with “less feminine energy,” which he said was misinterpreted by some employees. He emphasized that Zuckerberg wants a place that supports all people, but some employees haven’t bothered to listen or read the original interview.

Meanwhile, Meta is dealing with inefficiencies in its handling of DOGE (Dogecoin) and has laid off several employees, including those from the White House division Elon Musk took over for DOGE. Additionally, there were quiet layoffs at Google in multiple areas, including ads and YouTube operations.

Other tech news includes a Chinese ex-Google engineer being charged with espionage, an ex-Apple employee publicly apologizing for leaking, and OpenAI co-founder John Schulman leaving Anthropic to join a new AI startup.

The ongoing power struggle within Meta is casting doubt on the company’s direction, and it remains to be seen how it will resolve this internal conflict.
