Federal employees from the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA), which has a workforce of over 3,000 in St. Louis, are among those offered buyouts under a Trump administration initiative. The agency specializes in analyzing and distributing geospatial intelligence data for national security, defense, and disaster response.
As part of the initiative, NGA is offering deferred resignations to employees, although it’s unclear how many have received or accepted an offer. At least 77,000 federal workers have accepted buyouts so far, including those in other locations such as Arnold, Missouri, and Springfield, Virginia.
The offer includes eight months of pay and comes with conditions, including potential national security implications for the vacancy if determined by the Secretary of Defense. A judge initially paused the deadline but lifted it on Thursday. The initiative aims to reduce the federal workforce as President Trump prioritizes reduction efforts during his second term.
