Trump’s Gaza Plan Sparks Widespread Criticism Across Parties

US President Donald Trump has drawn criticism from lawmakers of both parties for his comments on taking control of the Gaza Strip. At a press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Trump said “the US will take over the Gaza Strip” and “own it,” sparking concerns among Democrats.

A letter signed by 145 House Democrats, including Reps Sean Casten and Brad Sherman, argues that such a move would be morally indefensible and damage the country’s global standing. They also warn that it could put American troops in harm’s way and lead to increased terrorism.

Trump claimed on Thursday that Israel will transfer Gaza to US control at the end of the fighting, with no need for American troops to intervene. However, his plan has been met with criticism from some Republicans who see it as unworkable and contradictory to Trump’s non-interventionist foreign policy.
