Austin Cindric edged out Erik Jones on the final lap to win the second Duel at Daytona International Speedway. Cindric’s No. 2 Team Penske Ford led a Ford blockade and outran Jones’ No. 43 Toyota, which was pushed by Chris Buescher’s No. 17 Ford.
As a few cars wrecked behind them, Buescher finished fifth with Denny Hamlin in sixth place. Corey LaJoie made the field for Sunday’s event after finishing sixth.
The race saw several leaders, including Chase Briscoe and Daniel Suarez, but Jones pulled ahead on Lap 16. Suarez held the point at the halfway mark, but a speeding penalty for Kyle Larson put him back in the pack. A caution flag was waved when Alex Bowman crashed into Daniel Suarez’s car, forcing the field to pit.
Cindric’s victory marked the end of Speedweeks’ Duel 2 and sets the stage for Sunday’s 200-lap event at Daytona International Speedway.
