Google’s themed icons have broken again in the latest Android 16 Beta 2 update. The issue occurs when trying to switch between icon shades or selecting system colors from the central Wallpaper & style screen, requiring up to 25 taps.
The problem is similar to a past bug that caused dark mode-themed icons to appear in light mode after an update. However, Google has since addressed this issue with the January 2025 Pixel Security Update. Despite being in beta, themed icons are still prone to bugs, which can be frustrating for users.
To fix the issue, try selecting system colors from the three-dot menu on the right of the presets or heading to Settings → Wallpaper & style. Restarting the device or toggling through the setting on the customization screen does not appear to resolve the problem.
