Pope Francis Hospitalized for Bronchitis Treatment

Pope Francis was admitted to a hospital in Rome on Friday for “necessary tests” as he continues his treatment for bronchitis. The Vatican said the pope’s clinical condition is fair, with only a mild fever and respiratory tract infection.

The 88-year-old pontiff had scheduled private audiences earlier that morning before heading to the Agostino Gemelli Polyclinic for the tests and treatment. He has been experiencing ongoing health issues, including falls and injuries to his arm and knees in recent months.

A jubilee audience for Saturday has been canceled due to the pope’s medical condition, while events planned for this weekend, including a meeting with artists, have also been put on hold.

Despite his health issues, Pope Francis was seen to be calm and in good mood, according to Vatican spokesperson Matteo Bruni. The pope is undergoing hospital medication therapy for his bronchitis and is expected to recover soon.

The Vatican has confirmed that the pope’s condition is being closely monitored, but there are no concerns about radiation exposure after a recent incident involving a Russian drone striking the Chernobyl reactor shell.
