American-Israeli citizen Keith Siegel has released a video message praising President Donald Trump after he was freed from captivity by the terrorist group Hamas two weeks ago. Siegel, 65, and two other hostages were released on February 1 following a ceasefire deal brokered between Hamas, the US, and Israel.
Siegel expressed his gratitude to Trump, saying “You are the reason I am home alive” and thanking him for his leadership in fighting against terror and bringing him back to his family safely. Siegel also called on the president to ensure the ceasefire deal is carried through and enforce it to protect innocent hostages and civilians.
Siegel shared his personal experience of being held captive by Hamas for 484 days, describing “unimaginable conditions” and facing physical and emotional torture. He stated that Trump’s leadership was necessary to bring him back home safely.
The ceasefire deal reached between Israel and Hamas on January 15 followed a meeting between Trump’s then-incoming Middle East envoy and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Earlier this month, Netanyahu praised Trump’s leadership in the effort, saying he had “great force and powerful leadership” in securing the deal.
Siegel’s video message comes after President Biden claimed credit for the ceasefire deal, sparking controversy over who should take credit.
