Android 16 Beta 2 Introduces ‘Regional Preferences’

Android has long set default settings for various types of information based on a user’s location or language. However, changing these preferences can be difficult when using a different language or preferred unit of measurement.

The latest Android 16 Beta 2 update introduces a new “Regional preferences” section in the Settings app, allowing users to customize specific settings, including:

– Temperature units (Celsius or Fahrenheit)
– Measurement system (Metric, Imperial US, or Imperial UK)
– First day of the week (Sunday through Saturday)

These changes will be applied only to areas where apps reference Android’s default setting. Some apps may override these changes, but Google Pixel Weather is an example that adapts to user preferences.

The new feature aims to simplify changing regional settings and ensure consistency across different apps.
