Instagram Tests Private Downvote Feature for Comments

Instagram has confirmed that it’s testing a new feature allowing users to privately signal dislike or irrelevance for comments on Feed posts and Reels. The company won’t display a dislike count, and no one will know if a user taps the button. The test aims to improve the comment section’s quality and make it more friendly. A small group of users are currently testing this feature, which may be expanded to move disliked comments lower down in the future. This move follows Reddit’s long-standing use of downvote mechanisms for sorting comments based on upvotes and downvotes.
