At an event in London, actors Luke Thompson and Yerin Ha joined showrunner Jess Brownell to tease photos and a video of their characters’ upcoming relationship.
According to Brownell, the decision to explore a downstairs storyline came after three seasons of focusing on the upstairs world. “I feel like we spent the first three seasons really digging into the upstairs world and getting to know the rules of the ton,” Brownell said. Thompson’s character, Benedict, will finally be the center of attention in season four, with a story centered around his musical theme.
Thompson expressed excitement about his character’s development, saying it feels like writing a “whole symphony” about him. Ha noted that the new romance will bring fresh energy to the show, while co-star Golda Rosheuvel hinted at her character Queen Charlotte’s upcoming storyline, which may include new friendships and vulnerabilities.
The season is still in production, but fans can expect a new and exciting direction for the beloved series.
