US President Donald Trump has imposed a deadline for Hamas to release all remaining hostages by 12 p.m. Saturday, after the terror group threatened not to do so. The deadline was set in response to Israel’s alleged violation of the ceasefire agreement.
Trump wrote on Truth Social that Israel will now have to decide what to do about the hostages. The US “will back” whatever decision Israel makes.
Hamas released three hostages, including an American citizen, earlier Saturday. The release came after Trump’s ultimatum. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has scheduled a late-night conversation with senior officials to discuss the situation.
Netanyahu had previously stated that if Hamas didn’t return the hostages by noon on Saturday, the ceasefire would end and Israel would resume fighting until Hamas was defeated.
