Captain America Brings on Multiverse Threats

Captain America has saved the world once again but faces a new challenge: reassembling the Avengers after his mission. In “Captain America: Brave New World,” Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) takes over from Steve Rogers and leads his first MCU movie, defeating the powerful Red Hulk. However, a post-credits scene reveals that there are more multiverse threats in the MCU.

The final battle destroys the White House, with Cap ultimately defeating Red Hulk and locking up villain Samuel Sterns. President Ross turns himself in to serve jail time for his rampage. The film leaves unanswered questions about who becomes president while Ross is in jail.

However, a brief cameo reveals that Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan) has a rising career in politics as an incoming U.S. congressman. This sets the stage for his appearance in “Thunderbolts” this summer, where he joins a new anti-hero/villain team.

In the post-credits scene, Captain America visits Sterns, who claims to have calculated probabilities indicating that there are other worlds out there with heroes who will need to protect their planet from threats. This officially introduces Captain America to the multiverse and sets the stage for future movies like “Doomsday” and “Secret Wars.”

Robert Downey Jr.’s return as Dr. Doom is confirmed, marking a reality-bending twist in his MCU role. The upcoming “Fantastic Four” movie will introduce an alternate world with Mr. Fantastic, Invisible Woman, Human Torch, and the Thing as its main superheroes. It remains to be seen whether Captain America will work with this new team to face the ultimate threat of Dr. Doom.
